Position: Program Support  

Reports to: Camp Director

Time Commitment: M-F 8:00am - 12:00pm (20 hrs/week) 6/10/24-8/2/24

Compensation: $15/hr 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The program support staff member is responsible for supporting logistical aspects of the camp program, including Before Care, set up/breakdown of camp-wide activities, as well as preparation and distribution of snack/lunch.

  • Report to work well rested, on time and maintain consistent attendance. 
  • Establish positive and professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Show initiative in problem solving and be open to new ideas. 
  • Support and uphold The Discovery School Day Camp philosophy and policies. 
  • Have the ability to organize tasks, prioritize and work within a set timeline  
  • Communicate necessary absences with as much advance notice as possible. 
  • Respect and appreciate individual learning styles, culture and point of views. 
  • Model conflict resolution by communicating directly with individuals involved and collaborating to develop solutions. 

 

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized food preparation area
  • Report any incidents to the director in a timely manner. 
  • Understand and follow the Discovery School Health and Safety Guidelines
  • Familiarize yourself with weekly camper allergy information and lunch choices
  • Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and follow the Emergency Plan in the event of an emergency. 

 

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor safety and engage in play with campers daily during Before Care (8am - 8:45am)
  • Set up the daily camp activity each morning at the nature playground (ex. treasure hunt clues, yard games, etc.) 
  • Receive daily lunch deliveries (ex. pizza)
  • Prepare snacks and lunches for each camper crew.  
    • Setup and maintain a safe, organized food preparation area
    • Assemble up to 88 lunches daily 
  • Distribute snacks and brown bag lunches to camper crews daily
  • Clean/sanitize food preparation area and setup for the following day (ie. sweep floor, wipe down work surfaces, check food inventory, restock supplies, set up breakfast table).  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience in food preparation preferred
  • Good physical condition and endurance
  • Obtain all necessary clearances (linked below)
