Obscure Histories is looking for talented writers who love history and want to research beyond the standard textbook stories, with an emphasis on people, places, and ideas from traditionally marginalized communities that have been "obscured" or hidden in mainstream history from around the world. Obscure Histories is an educational website that is a collection of original, succinct, accessible, but rigorously researched pieces based in primary sources about overlooked people, places, things, events, and ideas. Obscure Histories has been an online presence since 2014, with nearly 70k web impressions a month, trending upwards. OH is in the process of filing for 501(c)3 NonProfit status in the coming months. Additional opportunities include experience with media production, podcasting, and video. While this is initially a volunteer position, there are future plans in place to offer market rate for pieces and for media production.
