Farm Field Hand Help and Farmers Market Help Needed (Federalsburg, MD)
Local vegetable farmer in Federalsburg, MD is seeking immediate Field Hand applicants to assist with everyday operations of a 40 acre vegetable farm and Part Time Market Helpers to assist with weekend farmers markets (in Annapolis, Baltimore and DC).
• Field Hand Applicant duties will include but not limited to picking/packaging of various fruits and vegetables, planting, removal of plastic in fields, laying irrigation pipe and relocating pipe throughout year, field work (ie. Field hoeing or stringing tomatoes) and loading of trucks and trailers for assorted markets.
Qualified Applicants should be able to do the following:
1. Lift over 40lbs
2. Bend over for extended periods of time in the fields picking or pulling plastic
3. Be out in the summer heat and sun for extended periods of time
work 8-10 hours per day possibly 6 days a week
• Part Time Market helper duties will include setting up breaking down vegetable displays at farmers markets on Saturdays and Sundays and interacting with customers by selling produce.
Qualifed Applicants should be able to do the following:
1. Lift over 40lbs
2. Be able to stand for extended periods of time in the heat and cold
3. Have a friendly and outgoing personality while working with customers and other market vendors and be trustworthy
4. Be able to do math and make accurate change (money) while handling customer sales
5. MUST BE ABLE TO BE ON TIME FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MARKETS THAT START EARLY IN THE MORNING – NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
6. Would be great if individual was able to drive a Box Truck (example would be a U-Haul truck)
