The Parent Party’s mission is to organize and advance the national movement empowering parents to take control of their children’s education, empowering citizens to take control of our democracy and empowering police to take control of our streets. This national movement supports political candidates (at every level, Democrat, Republican or Independent) who believe parents should have the freedom and independence to decide what education their child should receive and opposes those political candidates who impede these fundamental rights of parents.

Position Title: Political Campaign Internship / Change Agent – Entry-level, full-time or part-time unpaid internship to change the world for the millions of Americans children stuck in an education system that is failing them and their families.

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Parent Party, the Political Campaign Intern will assist with various aspects of our national efforts to advance educational freedom and independence for parents to choose the school they think is best for their child. The work includes our efforts to take on those who stand in the way of this critical advocacy for parents and their children. This is a full-time or part-time position who will work as part of a team working with candidates running for political office (from School Board to Senator) who support the Parent Party’s agenda. The successful candidate will have a great attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, a sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task. She or he must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, as necessary. The position will primarily be REMOTE, however, there will be opportunities to participate in local and national activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to gain specific or general experience as part of an entire Political Campaign Team in any of the following areas:

• Canvassing

Reports to: Deputy Chief of Staff of Parent Party

Location: REMOTE

Responsibilities
• Will learn and provide operational, communications and fundraising support across the organization with a focus on our endorsed candidates running for office;
• Will work with candidates, parents, guardians, volunteers and other Members of the Parent Party to promote educational freedom and independence for all families;
• Will build relationships with voters, donors, media and other influencers;
• Will set up media appearances for our endorsed candidates;
• Will assist with organization networking, fundraising, political and media events (virtual and in-person);
• Will assist with writing and editing copy for internal and external communications;
• Will assist with the creation of content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Participate in the decide who, what, where, and when to disseminate;
• Will assist with the creation, development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and campaign websites;
• Will work with other organizations to promote educational freedom and independence for all families; and
• Will collaborate with local, regional, and national partners on policy initiatives, funding, and other efforts within the educational reform community, as needed.

Required Qualifications
• Must be willing and able to work a minimum of five (5) hours per week.
• Currently enrolled or recent graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in political science, marketing, communications, public relations, business or related field.
• Interest/curiosity in gaining experience in political campaign activities.
• Excellent communication (verbal, written and telephonic) and interpersonal skills and an ability to listen carefully, attentively and with empathy.
• Efficient research skills.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe software and social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to take a leadership role in project coordination.
• MUST HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR

• Willing and able to work in the field.
• Ability to speak to groups, in a professional manner, and either demonstrated skills in webinar presentations.

Salary: THIS IS AN UNPAID POSITION (however, you may be eligible for college credit or field placement)

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time (minimum 5 hours per week)
