JOB TITLE: Youth STEM instructor
JOB TYPE: Part-time
COMPENSATION: $30- $35/hour
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for college students and professionals to teach Computer Science, Engineering, Arts, and Design related courses to students ages 7-14. Candidates DO NOT need to have a technical background but must have a strong passion for working with youth and possess strong leadership qualities such as facilitating a class workshop. Classes are primarily taught face to face, and we are looking for instructors who can assist with our after-school programs and student enrichment programs throughout the week. The time frames for our after-school programs are usually 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm and our evening youth enrichment classes usually take place from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Instructors must be willing to drive to our after-school sites which will be within the Atlanta metro areas. Each class typically meets 2 to 3 times a week and are usually 1.5-2 hours each session. We primarily offer face to face classes but there may be some opportunities here and there to lead remote workshops. We provide a structured curriculum, teaching platform, and study guides for the students.
The primary role of a Kids Next Code Instructor is to deliver the curriculum in a fun, hands-on engaging way and ultimately be responsible for student retention and parent satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion with working with youth.
- Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrate initiative, time management, creativity, and ability to communicate in a professional manner.
- Experience teaching or in a leadership position.
- Computer with high-speed Internet access.
- A reliable source of transportation.
**We do NOT require a Tech or Coding background. The most important skill we look for is someone who is extremely passionate working with youth, a highly motivated person, and someone who illustrates leadership and critical thinking qualities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Educate students (ages 7-14) in the following areas: Engineering design, Drag and drop based programs such as WIX and Canva, and Microsoft based coding platforms such as Scratch and Make Code.
- Deliver the Kids Next Code curriculum in a fun and engaging way
- Facilitate class sessions with students ages (7-14)
- Provide feedback for curriculum improvement
- Engage with students and parents as needed
