Salary: $20.00/hour

Expected hours: 12 – 20 per week

PROVISIONS & EXPECTATIONS:
● PROMPT responses to and communication with Shellie regarding schedule, absences, issues, etc.
● Prompt communication with clients and potential clients regarding stroke work and adult learn-to-swim lessons
● Prompt communication with maintenance lesson parents about scheduling changes, cancellations, etc.
● The pay rate is $20/hour with the opportunity to increase after 1 year and/or exceptional performance
● Individual liability insurance will be provided by Survival Swim School of the Brazos

Valley
● Lessons will be conducted M-Th with some weekends as needed; Fridays will be kept to a minimum as much as possible
Offering lessons every other Saturday is required; if more Saturdays/hours are desired, we will certainly discuss it
● Friday maintenance lessons may be required during regular survival swimming sessions (new sessions begin in mid-January, April, June, August, and October)
● Teach at least 12 hours per week; this amount might fluctuate on the higher or lower end depending on the time of year, cancellations, vacations, etc.
● Teaching hours will include maintenance lessons, stroke lessons, adult lessons, and

Parent Trainings. Parent Trainings are conducted from Spring through Summer or as needed

● At least 6-8 hours per week will be dedicated to just maintenance lessons; the remaining hours can be stroke work, adult lessons, and Parent Trainings

● More teaching hours can be scheduled during the summer when school is out
● Attend Meet & Greet on Day 1 of new sessions; new sessions begin in mid-January,

April, June, August, and October
● Promote yourself on social media and elsewhere to generate more stroke work and adult clients
● Arrive at least 30 minutes before your first lesson so that the pool is open and ready when the student comes in
● Complete maintenance items (see below)
● Maintain a professional appearance by teaching in “uniform”; the uniform consists of swim shorts, rashguard, and neoprene vest
● Reliable and consistent attendance at training days, meetings, and/or scheduled work days; we are aiming for minimal reschedules and/or cancellations
● Reliable transportation
● Accurate tracking of hours worked by clocking in and out on the Wellness Living Staff app
● Ad hoc duties as needed (office/clerical work, scheduling, marketing & event participation, etc.)
● Professional, polite, firm communication with parents
● Prompt communication with a parent regarding any attendance issues, late arrivals, etc.; do not be afraid to address any violation of guidelines
● Provide excellent customer service to everyone who comes into the facility
● Assist in maintaining a clean and safe pool environment for clients, staff, and the general public (see maintenance items below)
● Educate yourself on drowning statistics, layers of protection, and water safety so that you can advocate well and educate others on drowning prevention
● Act as a community spokesperson at educational events hosted by SSS-BV
● Smile and have fun!
● Give the last student the same concentration, focus, and attention as the first!

POOL MAINTENANCE
● Keep all office and bathroom doors closed since they each have their own HVAC system; remind parents and students of this as well; the pool area has its own ductless unit

● During winter, make sure the air temp is at least 70; if not, turn on propane heaters; usually only takes about 30 minutes before it is warm enough in there

● Turn off propane heaters AS SOON AS it is warm enough
● Check chemicals before your first lesson; need to be checked at least twice weekly; let me know if the water is looking cloudy or if any of the levels are off

Calcium Hardness (425+) pH (6.8 or 7.2)

● Check skimmer baskets before lessons begin and clean them out if they need it; this should be done weekly anyway

● Check the water level before lessons begin and turn the water on if it is low
The water level should be just above the screw in the middle of the skimmer basket plate (skimmer basket closest to the front door)

● Check bathrooms for toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, etc.
● Empty bathroom trash cans and the trashcan on the pool deck if overflowing
● Vacuum the pool with the handheld cordless vac if there is obvious debris on the pool bottom; the internal filter basket/screen inside will need to be rinsed out and left to dry after vacuuming

● Drop the robot vacuum in as needed
● Check pool walls for a slimy or dirty feel; scrub if necessary
● Check the pool bottom for a slimy or dirty feel; brush if necessary
● Pick up recovery mats and stand them up against the benches so that they can dry overnight
● Place any stray items in the Lost & Found bucket
