Who We Are:

CoreBioLabs is a CAP accredited, CLIA certified, High Complexity reference laboratory specializing in cancer diagnosis. Our goal is to develop and provide innovative diagnostic tools to improve physician’s capabilities through our urine cytology, molecular and pharmacogenetic testing. Our primary focus is the creation of innovative screening tests that can detect cancers and cancer precursors at their earliest stages, which correlates to less invasive treatments and cures, while decreasing mortality rates.

Job Summary:

Responsible for procuring and processing clinical specimens obtained from patients for laboratory testing.

Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products. Maintains adequate supplies.
  • Performs venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients. Identifies and labels specimens. Conducts laboratory tests on specimens. Enters data into computer.
  • Assists donor before, during and after donation. Instructs on urine collection procedures.
  • cleans /sterilizes equipment, instruments and work area following safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures.
  • Inventories and maintains supplies.
  • Clerical duties as assigned by lab manager.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the lab manager.

Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Minimum of one year related work experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to follow all confidentiality and HIPPA regulations

License or Certification Requirements:

  • ASCP not required. MA preferred, but not required

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  • Clinic protocols and policies.
  • Certain assignments may require a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a clean driving record.
  • Efficient and effective draws.
  • Medical terminology
  • Familiar with various lab equipment
  • Running lab results
  • Communication and customer service. Pleasant interactions with patients, staff and others.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift to 10-30 pounds on occasion.
  • May be required to push/pull wheelchair bound patients
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases through the handling of blood, body fluids and tissue samples

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Part-time, PRN
  • Weekends as needed
