Summary/Purpose of Position: The role of the Overnight Lodgings Associate is to be responsible for the checking in of guests, assisting guests with their enquiries, and helping to meet their needs for the enjoyment of their stay. It is also responsible for informing guests of all appropriate safety, educational and procedural information they require in order to maximize the enjoyment of the guest experience at Fossil Rim.  Since this role places the Overnight Associate frequently in direct contact with guests, it is required that s/he is at all times punctual, well spoken, respectful, of neat and clean and tidy appearance and attire, and at all times willing and able to help guests. Overnight guest services must understand that guest may come to the lodge office at any time during the night.

 

Description of Position: The essential job duties of the Overnight Associate include but are not limited to the following:

  • Represent Fossil Rim and serve the public with professionalism and by providing excellent customer service. Represent Fossil Rim in professional attire as directed by the Director of Lodgings
  • Always interact with guests in a helpful, friendly, highly respectful and professional manner
  • Answer telephones and supply guest with directions and/or information. Be responsible for educating him/herself of the Fossil Rim Mission and the knowledge to promote and sell the services of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.
  • Be willing to assist guests at any hour of the night.
  • Must monitor the order and cleanliness of the Lodge and Safari Camp and the Reservation Office and tidy up as needed.
  • Perform all normal daily routines as instructed, including re-stocking of vending facilities
  • Preparing an elegant display of pre-packaged breakfast items for Lodgings guests.
  • This position will need to take a Food Handlers certification course. If you don’t have a certificate already, Fossil Rim will provide you an opportunity for you to get that.
  • Ensure full compliance with and understanding of Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, corporate procedures and policies, Departmental mission and goals, and Fossil Rim mission, values and goals. 
  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Punctual and dependable according to duty schedule, but flexible when required, duties are varied.
  • Tidy up the front office prior to leaving each morning.
  • Be able to climb multiple stairs.
  • Comply with Health Dept. Standards at all times.
  • Understand all FR emergency plans and contingencies.

 

All of these constitute a “front office” and “first contact” service to enable and promote the various visitor opportunities and services offered by Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. 

 

The secondary job duties of the Lodgings Associate include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate constructively in meetings, workshops, planning exercises, etc. as required
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
  • Provide feedback and reports to supervisor/Director as required
  • Able to clean guest rooms when no housekeeper is on duty and assist housekeeper when possible. Assist with laundry as assigned.

 

Experience and Qualities Required: These include the following:

  • Well spoken, always helpful on the telephone and respectful of guests and potential guests
  • Attention to detail
  • Good customer service and sales skills both in person and by telephone
  • Able to communicate and interact well with other staff, respectful of supervisors, and showing trust and respect for others in the guest services area. 
  • Neat, clean and tidy personal appearance and attire. Uniform standard as assigned by management (clean and proper appearance a must)
  • Able to work with little supervision and be resourceful.
  • Accuracy in record-keeping and passing on of vital information to day staff.
  • Computer literate. Able and willing to learn specialized applications.
