Position: Line Cook

Location: St. Michaels, Maryland

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Line Cook, you will be an integral part of our kitchen team, responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our dishes. Your dedication to culinary excellence will contribute to the overall success of our restaurant. Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Food Preparation:

  • Prepare ingredients, including chopping vegetables, butchering meat or fish, and measuring ingredients to ensure high-quality dishes.
  • Follow recipes and culinary guidelines to accurately prepare and present menu items.

2. Cooking and Plating:

  • Cook and plate dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen are of the highest quality in terms of taste and appearance.

3. Quality Control:

  • Maintain a keen eye for detail, checking each plate for accuracy and presentation before it leaves the kitchen.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness, rotating stock as needed to minimize waste.

4. Food Safety Procedures:

  • Participate in closing down the kitchen at the end of each shift, including cleaning and sanitizing all work areas and equipment.
  • Ensure that all food items are properly stored, labeled, and dated for freshness and safety.
  • Assist in maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.

5. Kitchen Organization:

  • Keep workstations clean and organized as instructed, adhering to all sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in inventory management by notifying the Head Chef and General Manager of low-stock items via established inventory management processes.

6. Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the kitchen team, communicating effectively to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
  • Assist colleagues as needed to meet customer demand.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Line Cook in a restaurant setting, with a focus on preparing high-quality dishes.
  • Strong culinary skills, including knowledge of various cooking techniques and food safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistently excellent dishes.
  • A passion for food and a desire to learn and grow in the culinary field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb step ladders, lift loads to 50 lbs, push and pull hand carts (unassisted)
