Job Title: Montclair Campus Operations Assistant
Department: Montclair Campus
Reports To: Montclair Campus and Preschool Manager 
Designation: Non-exempt / Part-Time / Hourly

Salary: $15.13/hour

Schedule: The hours for this position are Tuesday-Friday 4:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday 8:45am-4:45pm at our Montclair Campus. 
 

L’Alliance New York Language Center is the largest language school dedicated to teaching the French language in the tri-state area. With more than 8,000 registrations annually, we offer French classes on two campuses: Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Montclair, NJ. 

Position Summary: 
The Montclair Campus Operations Assistant will be on the frontline of customer service for the Montclair Campus of L’Alliance New York.  They will be knowledgeable in all Language Center activities (group classes, private lessons, corporate lessons, exams, camps, preschool) and be able to confidently reply to any customer or potential client. They will look for patterns in these interactions to help improve communication with students as well as the Language Center’s operations. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Montclair Campus Operations Assistant is responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all campus members and maintaining effective communication. Key responsibilities include: 

  • Greet and welcome clients and students, answer all questions they may have.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff in a timely and professional manner, by phone and email.
  • Register students in person or by phone.
  • Perform administrative tasks (e.g., 
  • Assist with general office tasks, including filing, photocopying, data entry, preparing rosters, certificates, sending class confirmation, etc.)
  • Provide basic technical assistance to teaching staff.
  • Assist Language Center colleagues as needed.
  • Maintain a neat and welcoming reception area.

Please note that the above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your role within the organization and the overall business objectives of L’Alliance New York.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Native English speaker or equivalent proficiency, ability to communicate clearly in French is a plus.
  • You notice great (and not-so-great) customer service. You think your morning latte tastes best when poured by a happy, welcoming barista and you’re excited to provide that same experience for our students.   
  • You are an ace communicator. Your emails make people smile and you can explain just about anything to anyone.
  • You are a helper. You find it satisfying to help someone solve a problem and you’re willing to jump in wherever needed.
  • You’re an organized multi-tasker who gets a thrill out of checking items off your to-do list.
  • You are curious, creative, and open to learning from mistakes.
  • You are tech-savvy and comfortable learning new programs and tools quickly. 
  • You have a passion for the French language and culture and want to share that passion with others.
