In the role of Lab Associate (Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist), you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and accurate specimen collection and processing. Qualifications:
- Strong background in patient service and care
- Proficient in specimen collection, processing, and blood sampling
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Experience in phlebotomy and venipuncture
- Skilled in laboratory procedures and techniques
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and SharePoint
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform day-to-day laboratory operations - Performs all testing/collection processes for drug, alcohol, DNA tests, physical exams and clinical testing (urine, saliva, hair, phlebotomy, vital signs). Perform observed and unobserved urine collections when required
  • Provides laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products, and services by establishing specimen preparation procedures; evaluating laboratory information; consulting with MRO and outsourced labs; reporting results per protocols. Answering calls from private pay customers as well as new and established customers.
  • Audit daily workflow to ensure that all operations are in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Monitor the receipt, storage and withdrawal of all laboratory specimens and tools. Package all specimens in shipping containers for Fed Ex or UPS pick up.
  • Review industry news and research to help consistently implement current best practices into laboratory operations. Maintains laboratory information system by identifying information needs and problems; recommending improvements; establishing priorities; testing; writing procedures; training employees; maintaining security and confidentiality.
  • Manage reporting, monitoring, resources, and laboratory supplies. Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Work closely with supervisor to provide effective solutions to support business and quality objectives, ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and schedules.
  • Facilitate effective communication across internal departments by trending and reporting data. Attend internal conference calls and meetings when necessary. Establish and improve procedures and processes by addressing issues and risks. Collaborate with Lab Director and clinical authority to continuously improve operational and clinical lab practices.
  • Ensure the lab establishes and maintains a calibration program for testing equipment that affects quality results, keep relevant logs as required. Ensure environmental requirements are met and perform clean up and maintenance as required.
  • Create, follow, teach and manage standard operating procedures for customer engagement online, in the lab and over the phone. Maintains knowledge base of products and services and handles prospective sales calls appropriately.
  • Experience using or an ability to quickly learn lab software necessary for the lab’s operation — Microsoft office 365, scheduling systems, payment collection/confirmation system, digital signature tools, and collaboration tools such as SharePoint and ShareFile.
  • Maintains national registry licensure for phlebotomy/medical assistant

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.00 – 35.00 per week
