Description:
This job includes taking care of dogs in a kennel boarding situation, lots of cleaning (inside and out), walking dogs, and general care (feeding, meds, baths). Must be able to handle large and small dogs. The job is hands-on interaction with all breeds of dogs. It is DIRTY work – a lot of cleaning up after dogs (cleaning up waste, cleaning crates, washing soiled bedding and feeding dishes, cleaning floors, etc.). Those afraid of sweating or getting their hands dirty or getting wet during a rainstorm need NOT to apply.

Previous experience working is not required but must be comfortable and able to handle dogs of all breeds and sizes. Need to be physically strong enough to handle difficult dogs who may not be well-trained on leashes. Dogs of all sizes from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.

Work periods are two shifts with morning shifts starting at 8:00 am and evening shifts starting at 4:30 pm.

Workers must be available on weekends and holidays. Only working all weekend shifts is an option.

Great part-time position for college students or older high schoolers.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Cleans and organize the facility
• Cleaning and disinfecting kennels and floors
• Organizing facility equipment, and laundry.
• Prepare food and feed dogs according to feeding instructions.
• Always provide clean drinking water to each dog.
• Bathing dogs.
• Walking dogs on leashes to and from kennels
• Cleaning yards
• Consistently on time to work
• Observing and alerting kennel owners of any problems with boarders
• Greeting customers and taking in boarders
• Handling cash or checks boarding fees and assisting in pickup of boarders

Skills and Experience:
• Passionate and comfortable handling dogs
• High level attention to detail with ability to follow directions
• Able to work on your own with little supervision.
• Problem solver who is patient and kind to animals.
• Display awareness of safety practices to protect dogs and self
• Previous experience working with dogs is not required
• Must be comfortable and able to handle dogs of all breeds and sizes.
• Experience working in working with other animals, horse stable, zoos, dog sitting, or other dog care is a plus.
• Also includes some working with horses and other farm animals

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
• Able to standing, walking, reaching, bending, crouching
• Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, hot, cold, and rainy

Must live within the local Tallahassee or Monticello area

Shift work: 8 am and 4pm; Usually 3-4 hours shifts, sometimes more

Open: EVERY DAY 365 days

Available: Weekends, holidays and summer months

Work Ethic: On time, self starter, confident around animals

Pay: $12-15/hour
