Housing Coordinator ( Part-Time—Hybrid in the Twin Cities)

Summary:

Frontier Living is seeking qualified applicants for multiple part-time, remote positions in our Housing Stabilization Service (HSS) program. HSS is a Medical Assistance benefit to help people with disabilities and seniors find and keep housing in the community of their choice. We offer flexible scheduling options, no evenings or weekends, paid time off, mileage reimbursement, paid training, manageable caseloads, and a friendly, supportive work environment in a 20-hour (or more, if desired) workweek.

Our caseworkers will base their operations from home in the Twin Cities, working directly (in-person) and indirectly on behalf of clients according to their preferences and housing plan. In-office attendance at our south Minneapolis location is required one day per week and as needed from time to time for meetings, orientations, and use of office equipment/resources.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with people to develop and follow person-centered housing plans.
  • Support people in applying for benefits to afford their housing.
  • Assist with the housing search and application process.
  • Research and contact possible housing options.
  • Help find funding for deposits.
  • Transport or meet those receiving services for housing tours or other services as needed.
  • Help organize moves.
  • Identify resource to help cover moving expenses.
  • Help develop a budget and understand and negotiate a lease.
  • Mentorship on the roles, rights, and responsibilities of the tenant and property manager.
  • Early identification of housing barriers and prevention of behaviors that may jeopardize continued housing.
  • Advocate with community resources to prevent eviction when housing is at risk.
  • Assist with the housing recertification processes for Housing Choice Voucher recipients.
  • Work to expunge records or access reasonable accommodations.
  • Ensure the new living arrangement is safe and ready for move-in.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred but try us with the housing experience on your resume.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and/or seniors.
  • Ability to pass a DHS background check.
  • Valid Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Home internet.
  • Knowledge of housing resources is a big plus.
  • Are you willing to transport clients for tours when the housing is located?
  • Do you have a quiet and confidential space to work remotely?

Job Type:

Part-time Pay: $20.00 -$22.00 per hour.
