--Description--

Meredith Manor hosts special events--mostly weddings and receptions--on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only with a typical shift being from 1230 pm to 1120 pm. We may have a maximum of three events per weekend, April through December. Our maximum guest count is 300, which is 30 tables with 10 guests each.

This is the average timeline of a shift: servers set guest tables and check their side works, a bridal attendant takes care of the bridal party, lunch break / uniform change, servers ice water glasses, servers take Ceremony Positions, guests arrive, ceremony finishes, guests have cocktail food and drinks for one hour, servers run out fruit or salad and pour champagne, bridal party is introduced / first dances and toasts, servers run soup if ordered, bussing tables, dinner service, music and dancing begin, desserts and cake cutting take place, and then bussing all the way to the end of the reception. Lead servers and managers perform side work final checks before the shift ends.

For every event, a server is assigned 2-3 guest tables, side work, and a ceremony position.

Lead servers and managers work every shift to make sure everything runs smoothly and that no one is overwhelmed. We do our best to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for our staff to ask questions or ask for help. Ear piece walkie-talkies ensure we are able to communicate with each other at all times.

--Side Work Duties--

Each shift servers are randomly assigned different side works, which are various cleaning or food prep tasks such as putting dessert displays together, overseeing coffee, preparing the wedding cake cart, performing bathroom checks, performing cigarette urn checks, etc. Side works might be independent or on teams.

Servers will also be assigned Ceremony Positions for one hour to help direct guests from the moment they drive in to the moment they take their seats for a wedding ceremony. If a server is assigned to direct cars, we provide neon yellow safety vests and orange flashlights. Directing traffic is only on our property and not on main roads.

--Qualifications--

Although we provide a meal and breaks, this position requires stamina. Servers will be on their feet and lifting trays of food / bus pans of dishes.

-must sign up for a minimum of four shifts a month

-must display professional, courteous behavior whenever present around guests

-must be 18 years of age or older

-must have black dress pants, a button-down black dress shirt, and black sneakers for uniform (we provide vests and rosettes / bowties)

-must have a clean appearance with hair pulled back, facial piercings removed, and nails kept short in length

--Signing Up for Shifts--

Our staff receives a digital copy of the schedule for the season and sign up for the events they want to work by emailing our manager/owner Miriam Reitz. Mimi assigns shifts based on a "first signed up, first put on" system excluding training. Every Monday she emails staff letting them know who is working that weekend.
