Relates closely to: Kids Pastor, Early Childhood Service Director, Kids and Early Childhood Administrative Assistant, and Family Life Department 

 

Purpose: To reflect the mission and vision of Cedar Valley Church through Early Childhood Ministry in Life Groups. To create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for kids to grow in their understanding of God, the Bible, and what it means to follow Him. To build, equip, and develop a volunteer team to effectively minister to kids ages birth–preschool on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 

 

Role 

 

  1. Life Groups Planner 

Purpose: To create a fun and engaging experience for kids to hear the Bible, memorize Scripture, learn who God is, and what it means to follow Him.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare a group plan for each Tuesday and Wednesday during the school year. 
  • Choose, or create, a curriculum designed for Early Childhood Ministry. 
  • Prepare all supplies needed for each group meeting. 
  • Communicate the group plan with Group Leaders ahead of time. 
  • Consistently evaluate Early Childhood Life Groups with Group Leaders, coordinators, and coaches to ensure effective ministry is happening. 
  • Work with the Kids Pastor to plan and execute two “Make a Difference” days throughout the school year to give kids an opportunity to serve their local community. 

 

  1. Team Builder 

Purpose: To grow the volunteer team in Early Childhood and to develop teams of leaders to delegate responsibility.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Recruit new leaders and walk them through the onboarding process. 
  • Utilize Group Leader Trainings to train new and existing Group Leaders. 
  • Meet with Coaches consistently to invest in their leadership and give them information to pass on to the teams they lead. 
  • Keep the Kids and Early Childhood handbook up to date with relevant information. 
  • Continually train volunteers through video, huddles, and meetings. 
  • Work on identifying which leaders are potential Coaches or Ministry Leads and lift them to that role of leadership. 

 

  1. Communicator to Volunteers 

Purpose: To ensure a positive experience for volunteers through proactive communication.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Schedule volunteers and send the schedule out 1-3 months in advance. 
  • Send consistent communication to all volunteers about upcoming events, curriculum updates, and any other information they need to know. 
  • Create space for volunteers to provide feedback on ministry. 
  • Send Group Guides to volunteer teams, the Monday prior, to allow time for preparation. 
  • Build relationships with volunteers. 

 

  1. Event Planner 

Purpose: To create space for fun Life Group meetings that kids can invite friends and family to. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Kids Team to create the annual calendar. 
  • Plan and execute Fall Launch for Life Groups. 
  • Plan and execute Bring a Friend nights on Wednesdays throughout the year. 
  • Plan and execute end of the year parties in May. 

 

  1. Parent Partner 

Purpose: To resource parents to be the primary disciple of their children. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Early Childhood Service Director to send a monthly parent email to inform parents of upcoming events in Early Childhood. 
  • Provide resources for parents on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so they can disciple their kids at home during the week (i.e. family devotions, take home sheets, etc.) 
  • Build relationships with parents. 
  • Work with the Early Childhood Service Director to form a Parent Focus Group representing each age group in Early Childhood. 

 

  1. Room Overseer 

Purpose: To ensure Early Childhood rooms are clean, safe, and ready for ministry. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create a detailed room cleaning guide to be followed after use of each room. 
  • Create a detailed room and toy cleaning guide to be followed monthly or bi-monthly. 
  • Do weekly checks to make sure every room is stocked with supplies (diapers, snacks, cleaning supplies, etc.) 
  • Work with Early Childhood Service Director to set quarterly themes for rooms and hallway space.  
  • Ensure toys are clean and in good working condition. 
  • Ensure the furniture is clean and in good working condition. 
  • Communicate maintenance requests with the Facilities team. 

 

  1. Staff Member 

Purpose: To live out staff culture and to keep the full team in mind. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Live out our staff culture in your daily work life. 
  • Attend relevant meetings. 
  • Follow processes in place when working with other departments. 
  • Proactively communicate with other departments as needed. 
  • Keep a clean and organized workspace.  
  • Work with Early Childhood Service Director to set and steward the Early Childhood budget each year. 

 

  1. Summer Expectations 

Purpose: Since Early Childhood Life Groups do not meet over the summer, there will be certain expectations only for the summer months (June–August). 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a Coordinator 1x per month for Early Childhood Services on Sundays. 
  • Be part of the Mega Sports Camp Management Team as the Childcare Coordinator. 
  • Recruit new Group Leaders as needed. 
  • Start to plan and prep for the fall season of Early Childhood Life Groups.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements 

  • High School Diploma 
  • Early Childhood Education preferred 
  • Early Childhood Ministry or Education experience 
  • Excellent computer skills 
  • Strong communication skills

Work Hours 

  • Part-time: 25 hours; Tuesdays 8 a.m.–12 p.m., Wednesdays 5–9 p.m., Monday–Thursday as available. 
  • Due to our work’s nature and the need to coordinate our working hours with weekend and weekday services and activities, changes in work schedules, work locations, and travel may be necessary. 
  • This position may require additional hours for visitations and other work events.
