PAX Program of Academic Exchange is seeking Community Coordinators in your area to be involved

Ideal candidates:

  • An active stay-at-home mom or dad
  • Are parents or have worked with teens for three or more years
  • Are involved in their local PTA and/or their local church
  • Are optimistic, enthusiastic, motivated, flexible self-starters
  • Have a desire to make a positive international impact
  • Have excellent communication skills in English
  • Has lived in current community for three or more years
  • Must be 25 years old or older

Education and youth-counseling experience is a plus

Job responsibilities include:

  • Arranging semester- and academic-year-long homes and enrollments for high school exchange students
  • Developing the interest of the local community to find families interested in hosting
  • Providing orientations to both families and students
  • Assisting the high school exchange students with personal and cultural adjustments
  • Providing positive, life-changing exposure to new cultures to everyone involved in the placement
  • Participating in the annual PAX national meeting

Additional information and compensation:

The position boasts part-time work, flexible scheduling, modest compensation on a commission basis, potential for annual international travel perks, and at-home task management. Many coordinators approach the position as a meaningful community service project with benefits, as a second job, or as an opportunity to pursue their interests and passions while making a contribution to their community. This is an independent contractor position; commission-based compensation is paid per student placed and supervised.

We are following all CDC requirements and person must live within 60 miles of the potential host family.

Application Question(s):

  • Is there anything in your background that would prevent you from passing a background check?
  • You will be mentoring teenagers and the host parents. Are you at least 25 years or older?
  • Most people do this because they love children and want to learn about other cultures. Are you aware that you will be working as an independent contractor and only get paid when you make a placement?
  • You will mostly work from home, but you will be required to do in-home interviews for host families, in person orientations of students and host families, and occasionally visiting schools. Do you have access to a laptop that you can bring with you on these visits?
