Building upon Survival Recovery sober living houses, we seek innovative and passionate professionals to help us create a comprehensive treatment program that emphasizes holistic healing, evidence-based practices, and compassionate care. As we launch this new facility, you will play a crucial role in shaping our program, establishing best practices, and to be a part of a team that aligns with our mission to provide a safe, nurturing environment for healing and transformation. 

Position Summary 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Counselor with a background in substance abuse treatment and a counselor licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT). The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing comprehensive treatment to individuals battling substance abuse.  The Counselor will provide therapeutic support to residents, facilitating their recovery and helping them develop coping strategies.  The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of addiction, and a commitment to creating a positive and empowering environment.

Job Responsibilities 

● Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for new residents to determine their treatment needs and develop individualized treatment plans.

  • Facilitate one-on-one counseling sessions, addressing personal challenges, triggers, and recovery goals with each resident. 
  • Lead therapeutic group sessions to encourage peer support, facilitate discussion on recovery topics, and promote coping strategies among residents. 
  • Collaborate with residents to create personalized treatment plans, setting realistic and achievable goals based on assessments. 
  • Regularly evaluate and document residents’ progress in treatment, adjusting plans and interventions as necessary.
  • Provide immediate support and intervention for residents in crisis, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being. 
  • Conduct educational workshops on addiction, relapse prevention, coping skills, and life skills to enhance residents’ understanding and preparedness for recovery.
  • Facilitate family counseling sessions and communication, involving family members in the recovery process as appropriate. 
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals and facility staff to coordinate care, share insights, and ensure holistic support for residents.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with facility standards and state regulations. 
  • Connect residents with community resources, support groups, and aftercare programs to facilitate ongoing recovery support. 
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on the latest treatment modalities, ethical practices, and industry standards.

 

Job Requirements 

● Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling or a related field(Masters degree preferred)

  • Valid counselor licensure (e.g. LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the state of Maryland.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in  substance abuse counseling or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of the 3.1 treatment model and substance abuse recovery processes.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to build a rapport and establish trust with residents.
  • Compassionate, empathetic and non judgemental approach to treatment.
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.
