With a 43-year history, the Associated Clinic of Psychology (ACP) is known throughout the Twin Cities as a leader in preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental health issues. ACP has several different divisions: clinic-based, nursing home-based, school-based, and community-based services.

Our internship program is looking for a qualified student for a 9+ month internship as a Geriatric Psychotherapist providing diagnostic assessments and therapy within our Geriatric Division.

Structure of the Practicum:
2 Supervisors: Kiana Joyner Rebekah “Bekah” Elling
Each intern will be paired with either Kiana or Bekah as their primary supervisor
Some facilities may be assigned to the other supervisor
Both interns may be at the same facility where there is a larger caseload
There will be 3 hours/per month of individual supervision and 1 hour/per month of group supervision (group supervision will include both interns and both supervisors)
3-tier approach:
1. Shadowing for a month with Geriatric Clinicians
2. Joint sessions with supervisor and intern (as long as appropriate)
3. Independent work doing diagnostic assessments, therapy, consultations, and in-services

Our interns will develop experience by:
Following best practices standards of the program
Working with older adults in their own environment
Possessing a willingness to receive feedback and promptly making changes
Maintaining a professional demeanor and having effective written and verbal communication skills
Completing timely and accurate submission of documentation and other documents as required
Demonstrating emotional intelligence/maturity and modeling appropriate boundaries
Working with diverse populations and having an openness/awareness of their bias
Traveling within the metro area. Possession of a valid driver’s license and auto insurance is required.
Maintaining a minimum number of billable hours
