CHADS Coalition for Mental Health is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save young lives by advancing the awareness and prevention of depression and suicide.

Program Description: CHADS Coalition believes in the importance of educating our teens, their families, and the community about youth mental illness, specifically depression and suicide. To advance this mission, CHADS has partnered with area stakeholders to provide support and mental health education. 

Job Description for Project Specialist:

The Project Specialist is a full-time (11-month) position embedded in a school working a teacher schedule during the school year and a CHADS schedule during the summer to assist with parent and family education as well as CHADS service coordination or as directed by the Program Manager. Working hours take place during the school day, at least 40 hours per week Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, with some evening hours when necessary.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement parent engagement and education events throughout the school year.
  • Assist with implementation and collection of district data and assessments
  • Liaise with building/district personnel and CHADS leadership team
  • Assist with organizing school-wide mental health awareness and self-care activities.
  • Facilitate Signs of Suicide (SOS) training sessions.
  • Support other CHADS programs in the building by assisting with consent and other data collection
  • Administer, collect, and submit all CHADS data per project policy.
  • Maintain working knowledge of mental health, suicide prevention, and CHADS information.
  • Maintain all records as specified by funder or agency.
  • Ensure all services and programs are implemented to fidelity and meet highest quality standards. 
  • Maintain 20% impactful hours
  • Participate in building and district meetings as needed or required
  • Attend both agency and program staff meetings regularly.
  • Any task assigned by the Program Manager as deemed appropriate for this role. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mental health or related field 
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience working with adolescent students and parents 
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience and understanding in promoting mental wellbeing 
  • Energetic with the ability to engage with youth, parents, and schools. 
  • Excellent organization skills, time management, record keeping skills, and meets deadlines. 
  • Knowledge and compassion regarding suicide and social emotional learning
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills 
  • Team-player attitude and ability to understand and effectively share the CHADS’ mission. 
  • Desire to work in an environment of measurable accountability. 
  • Must be comfortable using computer applications and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and live video conferencing.
  • This position requires access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with crisis intervention a plus
  • Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Mental Health, or related field
  • 3 or more years’ experience working in a K-12 school setting
  • Strength in cultural responsiveness and cultural competencies
  • Bilingual/Spanish speaking abilities are a plus 

The salary range for this full-time 11-month embedded position will be $41,947 - $51,480. Medical and other benefits are offered 12 months/year.
