Medical Assistant
Small office, great atmosphere, friendly staff, competitive wages!!! We are seeking a Medical Assistant who is strongly experienced with insurance verification referrals and authorizations as well as proficient with Back Office procedures.
Under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician, the Medical Assistant may undertake the following duties:
- Greet patients as they arrive into facility with friendliness, care & professionalism and provide them with appropriate information
- Assist with front desk workload when other staff is not available, to include deliveries, phone calls, running of patients, calling for triage medical needs and appointments
- Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical laws and ethics including HIPPA
- Manage inventory of office supplies
- Manage daily cash/credit/check reconciliation, with reporting to facility Office Manager
- Update and verify patients' demographics and insurance information; keep up to date on unpaid balances
- Perform clinical procedures, to include: Perform aseptic procedures in all areas either before or after patients.Take ALL vital signs and document. Prepare patients for the physician's care ASAP. Perform non-intravenous injections and documenting in chart.
- Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms.
- Maintain patient records, keeping them current
- Verify Insurance coverage, collect co pays prior to rooming patients
- Process referrals and “letter head” letters for patients
- Answer telephones and guide callers regarding medical procedures
- Provide education to patients regarding medical procedures
- Prepare patients for medical procedures
- Obtain patients’ medical information and record it in the database
- Pull patients’ records for doctors’ review
- Arrange for hospital admissions
- Direct calls and messages to appropriate hospital or medical office staff
- Confirm and reschedule patient appointments
- Check out Patients
- Assist doctors by providing limited procedural support
- Operate office medical equipment
- Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the physician.
- Administer medication refills as directed by the physician.
- Perform office procedures including all general administrative duties required by the physician.
- Clean and restock rooms after each patient and at end of day.
- Cross train responsibilities with Back Office Medical Assistant
