+ Job Title and Overview
Fresh Start Academy Educator-This position is for an instructor in the fundamentals of woodworking, carpentry, workplace safety, drywall and construction. The position is approximately 30 hours a week of in person instruction with classroom and shop floor learning. The instructor will be educating adults on construction topics plus special projects inside our shop or at a partner location. The position schedule is Monday through Friday in the morning to early afternoon. The students will have little to no carpentry background and will be coming from various backgrounds and are working to rebuild their lives and gain a new skillset.

+ Essential Job Functions

• Lead a class of 6-8 adult students in a 7-week curriculum. Teaching multiple classes a year, with an opportunity to teach focused classes for a shorter length of time occasionally.
• Operate machinery including power tools and various power saws.
• Administer coursework and competency tests. Work professionally with partner non-profit organizations for scheduling and reporting.

+ Education and Experience

• Have proficiency in carpentry, general construction and worksite safety.
• Have experience in teaching or leading others in carpentry and general construction.
• Have at least 5 years of experience in a teaching / leadership position in the carpentry or construction industry.
• OSHA 10 or 30 card a plus

+ Compensation and Benefits

• $28 an hour for up to 30 hours a week. Any additional time is at the same rate but must be approved.
