Carrollwood Farms is a family-owned farm for generations to come. Carrollwood Farms is dedicated to showcasing and preserving the best of rural Piedmont. Carrollwood Farms is committed to being the best in all we do.

Carrollwood Farms is a family estate farm of over 4,000 acres in North Carolina’s Stokes and Rockingham Counties. In addition to the vegetable farming division we also have an agronomy division, a building division, a grounds division, and a sitework and grading division. A hospitality division is being developed. In 2023, we donated over 2200 pounds of produce from the garden.   

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electrician/Handyman would be involved in a wide array of hands-on work, primarily performing electrical tasks related to new and semi-new building as well as maintaining existing electrical infrastructure. While the bulk of the work is residential, there will also be some light industrial work. 

The work requires the skills of a seasoned electrician.

DUTIES

Wiring new structures and additions, from residential to agricultural. 

Bending conduit.

Balancing loads.

Consulting with local inspectors.

Wiring larger-amp services such as HVAC units.

Troubleshooting the farm’s existing mechanical infrastructure when the need arises.

Pulling cable.

Installing boxes, switches, and receptacles.

Working with small scall solar projects.

Managing the electrical needs of fixtures such as heaters and the associated electrical needs of pools.

When there are no pressing electrical needs, the Electrician/Handyman will perform Handyman projects under the direction of the Director of Construction. 

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

A valid North Carolina electrician’s license. 

A full set of electrician’s tools. 

The ability to perform the wiring tasks listed above at a very high level. 

A valid driver’s license. 

A high sense of urgency.

Basic reading and writing skills.

Basic math skills.

Sound judgment/decision making skills. 

Good working knowledge of low voltage and IT wiring.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Other physical demands of the job, include standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting.

Regularly required to travel outdoors between properties/buildings in varying weather conditions.
