Summary: The Director of Purchasing & Estimating (DPE) is a high impact opportunity for an engaging, resilient, mindful, and strategic leader a visionary and entrepreneurial leader with the drive, motivation, and expertise to build and grow an innovative custom home building company.

 

Responsibilities

  • Should possess a thorough knowledge of custom home building, estimating and project management 
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine project requirements
  • Coordinate with suppliers, and trade partners to obtain pricing information
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis and prepare accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services 
  • Create comprehensive budgets for prospective sales
  • Collaborate with the client and designers to make selections in a timely manner
  • Prepare detailed take-offs and quantity surveys 
  • Prepare and monitor change orders throughout the construction process and provide regular updates to clients
  • Working closely with project managers, trade partners and clients to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule. 
  • Develop value analysis and engineering by defining alternatives to proposed scope that are more cost efficient
  • Assist the leadership & project management team to be successful in all upcoming projects.
  • Excellent communication and human relations, the ability to motivate the team and build company culture
  • Utilize daily and monthly operational dashboards and financial reports to.
  • Review and analyze data and reports to identify strengths and weaknesses in business processes and evaluate operational effectiveness.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in construction management preferred

A Builders License preferred

10-15 years of residential, custom home experience

10-15 years of tracking controls and budget reporting systems

Strong analytical and digital skills, including Word, Excel and scheduling software programs
