Assistant Teacher Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Lead Teacher in maintaining a Montessori culture of learning in a classroom of 4th and 5th graders.
- Assisting the lead in maintaining the classroom expectations.
- Support students academic, behavioral and emotional needs in a classroom (answering questions, redirecting children, guiding children, etc).
- Communicating to the Lead when students need help in a conflict resolution, and guiding children through conflicts once comfortable with the process.
- Develop and participate in lesson creation and delivery with the lead teacher
- Serve as assistant and partner to the lead teacher
- Preparing and presenting lessons/projects as agreed on with the lead
- Completing tasks delegated by the lead (administrative, classroom management, etc).
- Sub for lead when necessary
- Develop strong relationships with students, staff and families
- Assisting the lead with progress reports and family conferences.
- Maintaining an orderly Montessori environment.
- Checking student work throughout the week.

- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with both children and adults
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and other professionals
- Strong self-starter; able to work with limited direction
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
● Work is performed in a standard classroom setting
● Heavy lifting, bending, stooping, standing for long periods of time may be required.
