Behavioral Health Aide- $15- $16 per hour- LOCATED IN CHARDON

Humanity Plus Homes is an assisted living agency licensed by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.

We are currently hiring for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

We service developmentally disabled individuals with behaviors.

Qualifications: Residential Care workers will possess a combination of education, training and / or experience in working with emotionally and behaviorally dysfunctional individuals. Possess a commitment to serving developmentally disabled individuals, demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and display emotional health and empathetic listening.

All applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid Ohio Driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities:

Decision making / Problem solving – The Residential Behavioral Health Technician uses all available resources in making decisions in the best interest of a developmentally disabled individual in providing for their care.

  • Understands the concept of Staff discretion in decision making as well as dependent decision making
  • Comfortable and effective in using deescalating techniques
  • Readily engages with clients who seemingly are uncomfortable

Bringing Initiative and Creativity – A key component of the Residential Worker’s role is creating and bringing new ideas about activities and projects forward. This is often accomplished by tapping into creative energies of the clients and other staff.

  • Develops, manages and conducts activities.
  • Responsive to sudden need to change plans.

Reliability and Dependability – Consistency in performance and service delivery is most significant in helping boys overcome the issues that bring them here. Accountability is a valued quality that is required of clients and the staff.

  • Willingness to provide coverage when necessary
  • Meets documentation requirements
  • Complies with Policies and procedures, Company Handbook, etc.

Productivity – Residential Workers carry their share of the workload both through assigned duties as well as stepping in to offer assistance when needed.

  • Completes all assigned tasks efficiently
  • Able to take on additional tasks if required
  • An interest in continual development of skills in working with disturbed children

Overall Client Safety and Care

  • Protect individual from physical and emotional harm from themselves, others or their environment
  • Properly handle emergency situations as injury, run-away and acting out situations
  • Provide consistent predictable routines including, wake-up, hygiene and bedtime.
  • Instruct individual in socially acceptable alternatives to negative and destructive behavior
  • Teach and role model pro-social, mediation and self-management skills
  • Assist with planning and organizing daily activities

Responsibilities to Individual Clients and the Group

  • Ensuring adequate privacy and confidentiality for the clients
  • Development of trusting, positive relationships among individuals served and staff in the facility.
  • Sensitivity to the racial, cultural and developmental backgrounds of individual clients and the group as a whole.
  • Stay current and accurate with all written responsibilities of the job to assure appropriate licensure and documentation for the client and their family.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director or Supervisor
