Summary

NOTA Fitness is currently seeking experienced Group Exercise Instructors covering a variety of specialties to support our health and fitness promotion services both virtually and in-person in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. All fitness instructors are encouraged to apply. 

 

Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities

Service Operations

  • Instruct regularly scheduled group fitness classes. Formats may include:
    • Mind/body classes: Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, etc.
    • Specialty classes: Cycle, Dance Fitness, Boxing/Kickboxing, Prenatal, etc.
    • General classes: Formats with a focus on strength, cardiovascular, or core
  • Instruct at various intensity levels (low to high) for participants of varying skill levels (beginner to advanced).

Administrative

  • Start class on time.
  • When a sub is needed, notify your Manager as soon as possible.
  • Report attendance numbers as requested.
  • Assist with the completion of safety event forms should there be an unusual incident.

Customer Service

  • Provide high quality customer service to patrons.
  • Manage customer/agency complaints professionally.
  • Elevate concerns to your Manager

 

Required Skills

Minimum Requirements/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in group fitness instruction.
  • Must possess excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Required Experience

Minimum Education Requirements/Certification/Licensure/Experience:

  • National certification in group fitness if teaching general classes such as strength, cardiovascular, and core classes.
  • National certification in specialty format if teaching classes such as Cycle, Dance Fitness, Yoga, and Pilates 
    • Preferred with national certification in group fitness, but not required
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in group fitness instruction for specialty formats preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED certification when teaching on-site classes.

 

This position is part-time and on-call.
