The West End Cafe located on Fishers Island, NY is looking for talent to join their team for the 2025 season! 

The West End is a seasonal cafe that aims to serve the Fishers Island community by providing quality food and drink while creating a welcoming third space. We are a high volume summer business but try to prioritize quality, local ingredients as much as possible. We are passionate about limiting food waste as we are about building community. We are a small co-owner operated cafe, looking to employ individuals just as passionate about hospitality as we are! It doesn’t get any better than good food and Fishers Island, we’re positive. 

Duties/Responsibilities

• Work flexibly, cross-trained on all stations of the kitchen including production and hot line
• Assist in daily prep and execution of breakfast and brunch service
• Maintain high standards for food quality, safety, and cleanliness
• Help manage inventory, ordering, and kitchen organization
• Support and lead kitchen staff in a collaborative environment
• Contribute to menu development and specials (creative input welcome!)

Qualifications

• 2+ years in professional kitchen service as Sous Chef or Head Cook.
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume ticket load with consistent quality and plating
• Experience with short order cooking and batch prep
• Familiarity with standard kitchen procedures and sanitation protocols (HACCP knowledge preferred)
• Knife skills, portioning, and ingredient prep to spec
• Ability to read and execute standardized recipes and prep sheets
• Valid food handler’s certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($21.00) plus tips
