The Regency Memory Care Club has developed a Multi-Dimensional Memory Care Program that includes personal care and beauty/barber shop services. As a Beautician you will be responsible for onsite beauty services such as hair washing, styles, sets, die, cuts, shaves and more. You will help us enrich the lives of seniors through elevating their self-image.
The Beautician reports to the Program Director. Our salon services are offered as part of our membership fees so tips are not accepted – this an hourly position with an hourly pay rate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain a daily schedule for appointments
2. Greet members warmly and by name
3. Perform all aspects of hair care (cuts, dye, shaves and sets) in a professional manner
4. Deal with refusals appropriately and use dementia oriented approaches to persuade members to let you perform the service
5. Check the room temperature and water temperature carefully so that it's not shockingly cold or hot
6. Deal compassionately & calmly with members that show fear or confusion when you try to wash or fix their hair. Your aim is to reduce anxiety; confer with management to resolve behavior issues
7. Make a big deal of the results; show members how nice s/he looks. If mirrors have become a negative, then just say “you look terrific”
8. Report daily services performed to the Office Manager at the end of each shift
9. Control inventory of supplies and equipment to meet members’ needs.
10. Maintain cleanliness and order of the beauty shop area
11. Keep salon tools and hair products safely away from members at all time. Members should never have access to salon products and equipment, Keep in a locked cabinet in the salon room
12. Ensure and maintain safety & security standards
13. Use dementia based strategies to enhance communication and minimize negative behaviors
14. Perform assigned duties with attention to detail, courtesy, cooperation and positive attitude
15. Interact only in a positive and upbeat manner with members’ families, aides and caregivers
16. Consistently practice and maintain the highest standards of professionalism when interacting with fellow team members, management, members and vendors
17. Maintain confidentiality and treat all members with respect and dignity
18. Participate in all trainings offered and required
19. Perform other duties as directed by the Activity Director or Program Director
