Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota Florida is seeking a Props Intern for their 2025/26 season!
The Properties Intern will assist the Resident Properties Artisan in creating, building, and sourcing all props for all productions. As part of this collaborative process, the intern will have the opportunity to work with all production departments, to meet and work with guest designers and directors, and potentially to serve as backstage run crew on one or more productions.
Duties include (but are not limited to) pulling and building doofer or show props, prop maintenance during run of shows, load ins, strikes, creating paperwork, attending production meetings, researching, assisting with set dressing design and installation. Prop pulls and builds are based on the needs of each individual show. With a wide range of mainstage productions, offsite events, and educational programming, every show at WBTT presents a new and exciting challenge to our Properties Artisans!
The ideal candidate should be highly organized, posses excellent verbal and written communication skills, hold high value in the creative and collaborative process, and come into each new project with an open mind! Candidates should be comfortable with power tools, painting and crafting skills, have experience working with a wide range of materials (fabric, wood, metal, adhesives, modeling clay, etc.), and be comfortable working at heights above 8 feet. This Internship may present the opportunity for future employment with WBTT in future seasons.
