Job Duties may include: 

Admin:

  • Be available for short notice requests and stick to schedule when booking months in advance
  • Have a physical back up calendar/ planner for your schedule to the scheduling software
  • Zoom and in-person meetings for continued training and consulting
  • Returning all emails and phone calls promptly. This includes calls to the office, calls to clients and calls to other sitters.
  • Logging onto Pocketsuite every morning to check for last-minute schedule changes
  •  Committing to which holidays you’ll work in advance. Only take off 1 major holiday per year: Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, 4th of July, Easter, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day. Take off only one minor holiday: Labor Day, Valentines Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Veteran’s Day, Columbus Day, Memorial Day, (Not every sitter can have the same holidays off. First come first serve.)
  • Schedule Registration Meetings with new clients the same day that the client is assigned to you
  • Put scheduled visits and meetings in Pocketsuite as soon as they are booked
  • Text Melinda, the date and time of your scheduled registration meetings so you will receive compensation for them. This text is expected the day you schedule the meeting.
  • Meetings with client to develop a relationship and go over expectations of care
  •  Inputting all client data from registration meetings into Pocketsuite within 24 hours of  meeting
  • Updating any client information that has changed into Pocketsuite to keep the files current (address, phone #’s, pet information, etc...)
  • Keep client information confidential and organized
  • Let Melinda know your schedule the 3rd Friday of the month for the following month if not sooner, if you know you are unavailable. 
  • Send 5 pics of pets to Melinda’s assistant after the completion of services so she can create greeting cards for clients, Yvette Joyner ---------. Once per month for ‘repeat every week’ clients
  • Go to Strategic Alliances to promote the business, the more clients you attract, the more money you will make because there will be more pets to care for

Providing Exceptional care to client’s home:

  • Clean home to same state as arrival
  • Water plants around home
  • Bring in and put out garbage cans on specific days
  • Home Security check (bring in mail/ deliveries, rotate lights, open/ close blinds, water plants, presence in home to deter crime)
  • Bring deliveries under 50 lbs in from porch to avoid theft or damage by rain
  • Retrieve mail and put out of pet’s reach
  • Lift 45 pound bag of dog food to refill container

Providing exceptional care to animals:

  • Ensuring the well-being, comfort, and safety of pets at all times.
  • Spoil pets with plenty of playtime and attention 
  • Provide enrichment by reinforcing basic training
  • Do  bonding activities such as brushing their hair
  • Keep pets as happy and comfortable as possible by keeping routine consistent
  • Feeding and administering supplements and medications as instructed by pet owners (This may include oral meds or fluid therapy, subcutaneous injections)
  • Pre-operative and post-op care as directed by veterinarian
  • Open communication with Vet as needed
  • Put dog in crate at instructed time
  • Clean build up from eyes with a moist paper towel
  • Wash bowls and give fresh water daily
  • Regularly exercising and engaging with pets to keep them active and happy.
  • Walk dogs for instructed duration and route
  • Supervised potty breaks (we have wild animals in this area)
  • Dry dogs off with a towel when it rains
  • Use same commands as pet parent to communicate effectively with dogs
  • Provide mental stimulation through play
  • Give pre-approved treats as directed by client
  • Love, affection, petting, cuddling, scratching
  • Talk to, sing to, play music for, turn on/off tv
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for pets, including cleaning up after them
  • Driving to and from visits that take place within a 2 hour time block (unless a specific time was arranged due to special needs such as medication admin)
  • Pet Shuttle Service (Transport pets to/ from Vet for appointment or in case of emergency, groomer, training, special event, etc.)
  • Fear free medication administration
  • Reiki to alleviate pain or discomfort
  • Use of natural remedies to alleviate anxiety such as cbd treats, hemp oil, Rescue Remedy, and essential oils

Monitoring and reporting on pet behavior and health:

  • Observing pets closely for any signs of distress, illness, or unusual behavior
  • Notifying pet owners promptly of any concerns or changes in their pet's health
  • Pay close attention to detail to pet’s well-being including appetite, behavior, activity level
  • Keeping detailed records of each pet's behavior, eating habits, and any notable incidents

Ensuring a safe and secure environment:

  • Following all safety protocols and guidelines when handling pets
  • Ensuring that pets are properly secured, both indoors and outdoors, to prevent escapes or accidents
  • Taking precautions to avoid potential hazards or dangers, such as toxic plants or open gates

Maintaining effective communication with pet owners:

  • Send progress photos, videos, and messages so that the pet parent can rest assured that their pet is safe, happy, and healthy
  • Responding promptly to any inquiries or concerns from pet owners.
  • Following specific instructions or preferences provided by pet owners regarding their pets' care

Administering basic first aid, if necessary:

  • Having knowledge of basic first aid techniques for pets, such as wound cleaning or CPR.
  • Reacting calmly and responsibly in case of emergencies or accidents, seeking immediate veterinary assistance when needed.

Building strong relationships with pets and their owners:

  • Showing genuine care, affection, and empathy towards pets
  • Building trust and rapport with pet owners through excellent customer service
  • Be kind and respectful, use positive language to describe pet
  • Providing personalized attention and ensuring that each pet feels loved and valued
