Job Status: Full-time, Non-exempt (hourly) 

Department: Print Production 

Reports to: Print Production Manager

Location and Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, Onsite in Springfield, NJ

Role Summary:

The Print Production Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. They play a vital role in the printing process, ensuring that all printed products meet the required standards and specifications. This role requires attention to detail, technical knowledge of printing machinery, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the printing process.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area before, during and after shift.
  • Ability to work in an organized and scheduled fashion in a fast paced, first-class printing facility.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation, meet job specifications and internal Quality Standards.
  • Keeps accurate counts of work in progress.
  • Urgently communicate any issues to management: work orders, digital files, machine failures/issues, material issues.
  • Urgently communicates to the department manager regarding Finished Goods ready for the next step in the workflow.
  • Records, removes, and/or isolates defective product from workflow and notifies management of any issues.
  • Provide exceptional service support to the customer service team.
  • Collaborates with other TEAM members, departments and managers to achieve operational goals.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by Department manager.
  • Operate a forklift/pallet jack to move materials in the warehouse. (certification required)
  • Flexible work schedule. e.g. mandatory shifts can change from 8hrs-10hrs
  • Participate in departmental cross-training to learn the use of laminating and cutting machines and other equipment as needed. 
  • Identify areas of further improvement and make contributions to the streamlining and improvement of processes, our products and services. 
  • PRINTING
  • Operation of machinery and equipment. (Example: Vutek LX3 Pro AND OTHER PRINTERS, Esko Kongsberg Finishing Tables)
  • Knowledge of how-to set up and print various print materials
  • Heavy material handling.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling, greasing and calibrating machines.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Assist with production of Finishing and packaging of job. Including cleaning pieces.

Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior experience working with printing machines and print industry knowledge and experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of printing processes and equipment, machine set up and operation, and basic equipment maintenance and upkeep preferred. 
  • Keen attention to detail
