We are looking for an Entry-Level Cable Technician to join our team. This position involves installing cable, VoIP communications, CCTV, and access control systems and requires candidates to have a strong background in construction. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior technicians and project managers, gaining hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation of structured cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic cables) at client's location (mostly commercial construction)
Help set up, mount, and install equipment such as cameras, workstations, and access control according to project specifications.
Follow detailed installation plans, blueprints, and technical diagrams to ensure correct placement and cable routing.
Use construction skills to handle tasks such as drilling, mounting hardware, and securing cables.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment and safety standards.
Support senior technicians in testing, troubleshooting, and labeling cables and equipment.
Document completed tasks and assist in maintaining updated project notes and reports.
Comply with safety procedures, company policies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
At least 1 year of experience working in a construction environment, preferably with exposure to low voltage installations or electrical work.
Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools commonly used in construction and cabling work.
Willingness to learn about structured cabling and network devices.
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints or technical diagrams is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Good physical condition; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours as needed.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with basic networking concepts or cabling standards (e.g., TIA/EIA).
Experience working in large-scale construction or commercial projects.
Basic knowledge of cable testing tools and equipment.
