Trailside Church is a 7 year old non-denominational church in downtown Travelers Rest, SC. As an ARC Church plant, we have seen God move in especially exciting ways over the past 18 months. In that time period Trailside has grown nearly 40% in terms of weekly attendance and is now seeking a qualified and passionate applicant who is called to lead our worship team and congregation in more than just music, but also as an example of pursuing excellence in all areas of their life. Applicants are asked to hold a solid biblical foundation and theology and to utilize that as a filter for their leadership and music selection each week.
This position is for a full-time applicant and will be joining a dynamic and fun team of devoted followers of Christ made up of two existing full time pastors and 3 part time ministry positions. We are an elder led congregation and the ideal candidate will work closely with our creative director and other staff to lead an excellent Sunday worship experience as well as grow and train new members of our worship team. A typical worship set list will include music ranging from Elevation and Maverick City to well-known hymns. Vision for the future in terms of worship are also a must. Summary: The Worship Pastor/Director is responsible for the planning, execution, and spiritual leadership of worship services alongside the Lead Pastor and Creative Director. The candidate’s first calling should be to Christ, not to music. This position involves collaborating with the pastoral staff, leading music, overseeing volunteers, and ensuring a meaningful and engaging worship experience for the congregation. This position’s greatest goal is to steward God’s presence in worship, not to be a substitute for the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. All staff members are expected to be in community regularly, and to practice a healthy balance of hard work that is born out of regular and purposeful rest. This position will also be responsible for social media updates, the management of our Podcast, and other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor and Elders.
Responsibilities:
First and foremost, this position is one of a shepherd. As a worship leader interacts with the heart while the Lead Pastor interacts with the heart and mind, the candidate must desire to lead, disciple, and shepherd the congregation above all other calls. The candidate must see themselves as such in order to truly fulfill their calling as a worship leader/pastor fully.
- Worship Planning:
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other staff to develop a cohesive worship vision that aligns with the church's mission and values.
- Plan weekly worship services by selecting music and maintain planned services out at least a month in advance, which includes music and volunteer scheduling.
- Incorporate scripture, prayer, and other elements that enhance the worship experience to be a steward of God’s presence at Trailside Church.
- Able to conceptualize a vision for worship ministry as well as execution.
- Music Leadership:
- Lead and direct musical worship, typically playing an instrument and singing.
- Select songs that are theologically sound and that flows with teachings.
- Arrange and adapt music as needed.
- Recruit, train, and develop musicians and vocalists for worship teams.
- Partner with Student Ministry Pastor in Student Worship team rehearsal, training, and execution of worship sessions to grow future team members.
- Team Leadership:
- Build, manage, and shepherd a team of volunteer musicians, singers, and worship leaders. Delegation and development of future leaders is imperative.
- Conduct weekly rehearsals as well as special event rehearsals, such as major holidays and our 5th Sunday celebrations. Current schedule for weekly rehearsals is Mondays 6:30-8:30pm.
- Provide vocal and instrument training and instruction as necessary.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. Our team operates as a team in unity - we do not operate in silos.
- Attend a weekly staff meeting on Mondays at 2pm, provide reports for our Elder Team, be present at “Growth Track”, and a yearly team retreat off campus.
- Spiritual Development:
- Must love, read, and daily walk in the Word of God.
- Model authentic worship and spiritual leadership for the congregation.
- Practice healthy discipleship personally, with family, and then the church.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Order and maintain worship supplies.
- Work in conjunction with our Creative Arts Director to manage worship/production budget since it is a shared budget.
- Manage church social media and podcast on website, church app, etc.
- Communicate verbally and in written form effectively with staff, volunteers, and the congregation.
- Create a social media strategy and Manage Trailside Church accounts.
- Utilize Planning Center for scheduling and planning.
Qualifications:
- Musical Proficiency: Strong musical abilities, including proficiency in playing an instrument and singing. Preferred to have ability to play keyboard and guitar.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with a passion for mentoring and teaching others. Disciplined lifestyle to make follow up and follow through a priority in all areas. Building teams is paramount to this position’s success.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently as our staff DNA does not have a full 40 hour in office structure.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and other ministry leaders by celebrating wins together, fighting for unity, and standing for each other.
- Passion for Worship: A genuine passion for worship and a desire to lead others in experiencing God's presence. Your first call must be Christ and everything will flow from that place.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: This is a full-time salaried position, dependent on experience. We currently are unable to offer healthcare and retirement benefits.
- PTO/Vacation: We do not utilize a structured PTO, but all staff members are given 2-4 weeks off in addition to a Sabbath Sunday between Christmas and the first week of the new year as well as July 4th week which is our Church Picnic.
- A cell phone plan is available on the church plan or as a stipend. Additionally, a Spotify account is also provided.
- This position will lead 42-44 weeks a year maximum. In addition to our 2 aforementioned sabbath weeks, the candidate will purposefully take 1 week off every 8-10 weeks as well as an additional week (once future leaders are identified and trained) to coach and train future leaders while enjoying church in the congregation.
