Learning Rainbow Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, energetic, creative, and fun Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Lead Teacher! Our preschool program is designed as a creative program that meets the needs of all children & prepares them for Kindergarten, and teachers are encouraged to bring their creativity to the classroom as well! General Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. This position runs from August until June, with optional summer employment in our Summer Camp program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Either a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a specialization in preschool teaching, B-K certificate, PreK - 3rd Grade teaching certificate, Elementary Certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement, or a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Willingness to obtain one of the above qualifications within 3 years of being hired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • At least 1 year of experience in an early childhood or classroom setting
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with the High Scope Curriculum and COR Advantage is preferred.
  • Experience with GSRP is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to develop and implement classroom activities that align with the High Scope Curriculum philosophy that encourages children’s academic, social, emotional, and physical development
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young children and their families', as well as with co-workers
  • Good understanding of child development, age appropriate behaviors, common childhood behavior problems and appropriate interventions
  • Ability to work as a positive and productive member of a team
  • Ability to represent Learning Rainbow Academy in a professional manner

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement activities that support the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children
  • Create a clean, safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning, and promoting social relationships
  • Communicate regularly with families to discuss educational goals and/or concerns. Has the ability to develop written communication in a professional manner when necessary.
  • Evaluate the accomplishments of the children on a daily basis and reports progress to parents/guardians,
  • Work in conjunction with the Assistant Teacher to provide a well-organized classroom
  • Maintain confidentiality of information related to home and school environment
  • Follow the State of Michigan child care licensing rules
  • Participates in staff and center team meetings as required
  • Complete 16 hours of early childhood development training per year

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
