Position Overview:

Family Promise of Greater Cleveland is a non-profit agency with a 30-year history of providing services to homeless families in Greater Cleveland. Under the supervision of the Housing and Supportive Services Supervisor, the Resident Monitor oversees Family Promise clients (families experiencing homelessness) during evening hours, on weekends, and on holidays, as needed.  Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. Typical schedule will be Wednesday to Sunday 6pm to 2am (or similar).

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is present in the shelter to oversee activities, and to respond to any needs of families that may arise.
  • Completes weekly, scheduled, room checks.
  • Monitors clients and shelter facility for safety, according to Family Promise guidelines and through a trauma-informed lens.
  • Provides support for shelter and community client programming.
  • Promotes programming to shelter clients and assists with reduction of barriers to participation.
  • Assists volunteers that may be scheduled to bring meals or donations for families.
  • Maintains contact with Family Promise professional staff in case of emergency; contacts 911 and implements safety precautions as appropriate.
  • Provides report to professional staff on issues that arise during each shift.
  • Participates in all required trainings and engages in regular professional development (opportunities identified by staff and supervisor).
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

 

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Lived Experience with homelessness considered in lieu of formal education or experience.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of and interest in human services, especially poverty, homelessness, and unemployment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including compassion and a sensitivity to social issues.
  • Sound judgment and an ability to act quickly and professionally under pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team player and support clients and professional staff.

 

Compensation:

  • $15-19 per hour
