We are seeking a talented and dedicated Church Organist. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of music, particularly in a church setting, and be passionate about enhancing worship through musical excellence. This role is pivotal in creating an uplifting atmosphere during services and special events.

Duties

• Play the organ for weekly worship services, special events, and seasonal celebrations.
• Collaborate with the choir director and other musicians to prepare music for various church functions.
• Select appropriate musical pieces that align with the liturgical calendar.
• Provide musical accompaniment for congregational singing, ensuring a supportive and engaging atmosphere.
• Maintain the organ ensuring it is in good working condition.
• Attend rehearsals as required, contributing to the overall musical direction of the church.
• Responsible to the Pastor, the Worship and Music Committee and, ultimately, the Church Council.
• Participate in community outreach events that involve music, fostering connections within the congregation.

Experience

• Proven experience as an organist.
• Strong knowledge of liturgical music and hymnody is essential.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other musicians and church staff.

The organ is a 2-manual, tracker Casavant dedicated in 1975 with 17 stops and 23 ranks. You may use the organ for private lessons. Six weeks of paid leave are available pr year for vacation, sick leave, continuting education, etc. Beginning date either June or August.
