Position title:           Director of Communications & Marketing

Classification:         Administrative

Direct Supervisor:  Office Manager

Compensation:       Full-time Salary Position

 

Qualifications:

            Education

  • Minimum requirement is High School graduation or possession of GED Certificate.

     

Skills

  • One to three years office experience required, preferably in a fast-paced community environment that requires extensive personal interaction with others by phone, internet, and in writing.
  • STRONG computer skills required including experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Facebook, Twitter, Websites, Constant Contact, etc.  Desktop publishing and GrowthZone or similar Membership software experience considered a plus.
  • Comfortable working independently in a small office with extensive phone and on-line interaction.
  • Able to complete assignments without extensive supervision thus sometimes requiring independent decisions/judgments about work priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers, member investors, vendors, clients and Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Excellent telephone and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills, high energy, flexibility and must be a “team” player.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality in regard to work performed.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and acquire new skills.
  • Must be capable of multitasking especially with social media platforms.
          

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to set at a workstation for extended period of time.
  • Ability to use hands repetitively for phone, computer and standard office equipment and may have to lift up to 30 pounds.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Individual will report directly to the Office Manager and/or the Executive Director.
  • Establish, keep, and maintain event schedules.
  • Create the Weekly newsletter via Constant Contact and daily Facebook, Twitter, Website, event emails, etc.
  • Support Office Staff with event “RSVP” lists including reconciliation of numbers and updating board and committee lists.
  • Serve as on-site liaison and point of contact for clients, referrals and member investors.  Answer questions and resolve concerns/conflicts along with other staff through proactive communication.
  • Draft and/or proof correspondence, social media data, etc. for Executive Director.
  • Answer email questions from community and members.
  • Assist with all events and assigned monthly committee meetings.
  • Photograph all events, ribbon cuttings, etc. to be shared on social media.
  • Staff Liaison for the Young Professionals Committee.

 

Other Job Responsibilities

  • May perform portions of the work of the Office Manager, as assigned.
  • May perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Attend weekly staff meeting.
