Nature Camp Counselor Internships in Oakland, CA and multiple Bay Area cities for Spring Break 2025!

Inspire Behavioral Learning, LLC's Call of the Wild Camps have openings for college/university undergraduates to participate in a free, unpaid internship program to gain the skills and experience to become outstanding nature educators for elementary school age children. No previous experience is necessary.

Nature Camp Counselor Internship Openings: spring break Call of the Wild Camps, outdoor day camps in Oakland, Cupertino/Los Altos Hills, and Vacaville

Do you love the outdoors, nature, and hiking? Are you looking to volunteer or intern to make education fun for elementary school age kids? Inspire Behavioral Learning is accepting applications for nature camp counselors to intern in Call of the Wild outdoor nature camps!

Free educational and vocational experience for you to develop job skills in day camps while having fun! In the camp intern program, you learn to be an outstanding nature camp counselor and outdoor educator, inspiring kids ages 5-10 to connect with nature, hike and explore, read and write nature-themed works, create nature-inspired art, learn biology, and play in forests. 

Camp interns: college/university undergrads majoring in biology, environmental science, education, or closely related fields. 

Spring camps with intern openings:

  • Oakland spring camp: March 31-April 4 at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park
  • Cupertino/Los Altos Hills spring camp: April 7-11 & April 14-18 at Rancho San Antonio County Park and Open Space Preserve
  • Vacaville spring camp: April 21-25 at Lagoon Valley Park 

Hours options:

  • Full days 8:30 AM-4:30 PM
  • Half days 8:30 AM-12:30 PM or 12:30 PM-4:30 PM

Training: before camps start and ongoing during camps.

Duties: participate in ongoing nature camp counselor intern training; assist with teaching outdoor education, nature education, biology activities, and nature-themed reading, storytime, writing, art, gross motor play, and games; assist with safely leading kids on hikes on varied terrain approx. 6 miles per day; assist with teaching positive vegan-themed lessons about animals and environmental stewardship; facilitate snacks, lunch, and free play; engage children with a friendly, playful, positive, energetic, and fun teaching style.

Our ideal interns: outgoing, friendly, adaptable, creative, fun, energetic, and dependable outdoor lovers who are eager to gain experience teaching elementary school age kids. The #1 quality is eagerness and openness to learn and develop your skill set. This internship is ideal for undergraduates considering careers in teaching and working with children. Being vegan for animals and the environment or vegan-curious is a plus.
