Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of wastewater treatment projects from initial planning and preconstruction to final completion and handover.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project management plan, incorporating client requirements, create and update schedules, budget, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and critical paths, actively monitoring progress and identifying and mitigating potential delays.
  • Manage project budget proactively, identifying and controlling costs, preparing and tracking estimates, and recommending necessary change orders.
  • Ensure smooth procurement and delivery of all required materials, equipment, and services at competitive prices and in accordance with specifications.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, verify quality, and address any safety concerns.

 

Key Attributes

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Seven+ years of experience in the construction industry, with at least five years specifically in heavy civil water and wastewater treatment projects including water distribution and transmission pipelines, sanitary sewer collection systems, treatment systems, and pump stations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulations.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in construction management software such as Primavera P6, and Procore.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment relevant to wastewater treatment projects.

 

Business Acumen:

  • Solid understanding of bids and bidding process, construction contracts, change orders, and claims management.
  • Experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to track project expenses and identify and mitigate cost overruns.

 

Leadership & Communication:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

 

Safety & Quality:

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards is a plus.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) principles.
  • Ability to ensure that all project work meets or exceeds specified quality standards.

Additional Notes:

  • Prepare and distribute comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, progress reports, and financial statements.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the project team and with stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve project issues and conflicts promptly and efficiently.
  • Promote and implement company's safety program and quality management system (QMS) on the project.

 

Preconstruction & Planning:

  • Assist with preconstruction activities, including, materials review and selection, permitting, and subcontractor selection.
  • Develop and refine project estimates and formal bids, based on plans, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare and submit proposals to clients, ensuring they are comprehensive, competitive, and address client needs effectively.

 

Contract Administration & Subcontractor Management:

  • Negotiate and administer contracts with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring clear scope of work, pricing, and deadlines.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and payment requests.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and address any concerns or deviations from agreed-upon standards.
  • Issue change orders to subcontractors and clients in accordance with established procedures.

 

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Monitor and control project budget throughout the project lifecycle, identifying and addressing cost overruns proactively.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports, including budget-to-actual comparisons and cash flow projections.
  • Regularly communicate project financial status to stakeholders, including management and clients.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in wastewater treatment.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment within the project team.
  • Contribute to the team's continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical preferred).
  • Master's degree in a relevant field is a plus.

 

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years specifically in wastewater treatment projects.
  • Prior experience in managing complex infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding environment with tight deadlines and budgets is essential.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in construction management software such as Primavera P6, Sage 100, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and BIM software is a plus (not sure about this one, but it comes up in the research)

  • Experience with pump stations, pipelines, treatment facilities, and other wastewater treatment infrastructure is required.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes applicable to wastewater treatment projects is a plus.
  • Experience with sustainable construction practices is preferred.
