Villa Academy is an inclusive independent school community dedicated to developing the whole child in the Cabrinian tradition of “education of the heart.” Through dynamic, inquiry-based learning, Villa students become active agents of their own intellectual growth in preparation for lives of service and purpose.
Pay: $25 – 28.20/hour, dependent on education and experience
18 hours/week
Schedule: 2 - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with opportunity for additional hours
(Throughout the year there will be additional hours required when school is closed, and full-day care is offered.)
This position follows the school year and is not paid during breaks, including 9 weeks during summer, 2 weeks in December, 1 week in February, and 1 week in April.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate play-based, child-centered after-school learning experiences for children aged five to ten.
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for Kindergarten through Fourth Grade students.
- Provide care and rest periods for the children, as well as a variety of other services required for a licensed facility.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary.
- Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Collaborate with other members of the Extended Day team.
- Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers about their child's progress.
- Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate or a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (including degree in process); teaching credential preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working with children aged five to ten in a childcare, educational, or recreational setting.
- Experience in planning and leading activities for elementary-aged students.
- Desire to utilize outdoor spaces to introduce children to nature and facilitate connections between them and their environment.
- Readiness to obtain a Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families Merit certification, required of all employees in licensed facilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, kneel and sit on the floor, and be active with children.
- Capacity to perform all housekeeping tasks and any other duties as part of the role's responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
- Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.
