Gateway Residential Services is hiring for Direct Support Professionals in the Indianapolis area.  Current available positions include:

7am-7pm (7 on, 7 off) - Female Home 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide person-centered services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in their own homes in the community. DSPs play a vital role in helping people live a meaningful and purposeful life in the direction of their choice. DSPs actively teach, coach, mentor, and encourage people to embrace and increase their independence and meet their personal goals.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

PERSON-CENTERED SERVICES AND SUPPORTS

  • Follow the PCISP and BSP
  • Actively engage with people throughout the day
  • Provide daily support to people to make progress on their PCISP outcomes   
  • Maintain records and documentation per established procedures 

 

SELF-DETERMINATION AND ADVOCACY

  • Provide daily support to people to understand and exercise their rights
  • Provide daily support to people to make choices for themselves
  • Provide daily support to people to voice opinions and concerns

 

COMMUNITY EQUITY

  • Assist people with planning and participating in meaningful activities
  • Provide daily support to people to explore community interests, activities, and resources
  • Provide daily support to people to develop friendships, relationships, and natural supports
  • Provide transportation to community activities and appointments 

 

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Provide daily support as needed for personal care and hygiene
  • Ensure a person’s home is clean and in good repair
  • Assist with meal planning and preparation 
  • Report incidents timely and accurately per established procedures
  • Administer and document medications as prescribed
  • Implement a person’s Risk Issue Protocols
  • Assist with health and medical appointments
  • Monitor and document health-related issues

 

FLEXIBILITY AND COLLABORATION

  • Use flexible and creative approaches to keep people engaged throughout the day
  • Communicate issues timely with Gateway supervisors
  • Maintain professional interactions with internal and external partners

 

CONTINUOUS AGENCY IMPROVEMENT

  • Maintain compliance with training requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement activities

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to work a diverse schedule based on the needs and preferences of the people we support
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing at least 75 pounds
