Life Love Cheese sells cut-to-order artisanal cheese through our mobile pop-up cheese shop and our soon-to-open brick-and-mortar store. 

The Life Love Cheese Mobile Cheese Shop pops-up at various farmers markets and events in the Boston Metro Area. We also offer beautifully arranged grazing boards, charcuterie boards, & cheeseboards for pick up, delivery and catering. Life Love Cheese's first brick-and-mortar store will open this winter in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

We specialize in American artisanal cheeses, regionally-sourced charcuterie, gourmet accompaniments, and a carefully curated selection of New England beers, local spirits, apertifs, and small batch, biodynamic wines. The location will also offer gourmet sandwiches, snack boxes, and catering services for events, corporate lunches, and happy hours. We will host in-store and online workshops and events and continue to support our local farmers markets throughout the season.

Job description

As the Retail and Wine Manager, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and contributing to the overall success of our shop. You will assist in various aspects of company operations, including sales, customer service, inventory management, product knowledge, and event support. 

In this role, you will get first-hand experience helping a small, community-focused, value-oriented company establish and grow its first storefront. 

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service: 

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.
  • Assist customers with product selection and recommendations.
  • Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately.

Inventory Management: 

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock and minimize waste.
  • Place orders with suppliers and vendors, focusing on American cheese makers, local charcuterie producers, and New England breweries and distilleries.
  • Monitor product rotation and expiration dates.

Team Management: 

  • Review and advise owner in hiring decisions.
    Oversee staff during shifts.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Product Knowledge: 

  • Develop a strong understanding of our product offerings, including American artisanal cheeses, local charcuterie, gourmet accompaniments, and beverages.
  • Assist in training and mentoring other team members on product knowledge.

Sandwich and Snack Box Preparation:

  • Prepare gourmet sandwiches and snack boxes according to shop standards.
  • Ensure food quality and presentation.

Event Support: 

  • Assist with outreach, marketing, planning and execution of in-store and online workshops and events.
  • Set up and break down event spaces.

Catering Support:

  • Help create a catering outreach program to grow customer base.
  • Assist with catering orders, including packaging and delivery.

Operations:

  • Assist with marketing, social media and newsletters.
  • Provide input for expanding and growing the business.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for local food systems and a willingness to learn about our products. Experience in cheese and wine retail is preferred but not required. Life Love Cheese strongly prefers candidates with excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, a willingness to dive into a new venture, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We will train you on our product offerings.
