Position Summary

The Mental Health Clinician will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery-oriented, person-centered care at Recovery Place Kent Inpatient Services. This clinician will deliver mental health treatment services to inpatient residents, utilizing a harm-reduction approach and evidence-based practices and Valley Cities’ policies and practices. The clinician will ensure a strong recovery environment, person-centered wellness, and integrated care to meet the person’s individual needs while assuring that appropriate treatment services are provided. 

Essential Job Functions

• Work with the Director to implement evidence based mental health practices; including patient centered care, harm reduction and discharge planning.     
• Conduct assessments, referrals, groups, and individual treatment.
• Facilitate treatment groups in accordance with WAC’s and RCW’s.
• Be comfortable working with individuals who suffer from a mental illness by providing education and empowering clients to meet mental health treatment goals. 
• Work with multi-disciplinary care team members, including chemical dependency, mental health, psychiatric and medical providers, as part of a comprehensive therapeutic environment, to assess and address patient issues throughout the workday.
• Collaborate with clinical, provider and nursing staff to identify and support residents’ goals.
• Mediate and/or de-escalate resident conflict as needed.
• Assist residents in safety planning.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Master’s degree in behavioral sciences or related fields 
• Full or Associate licensure with State of WA Department of Health as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC/A) or Licensed Marriage/Family Therapist (LMFT/A) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW/A).
• Mental Health Professional (MHP) 

Experience:

• Understanding of and familiarity of mental health diagnosis, treatment, and resources for recovery.
• Pass required background checks.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Willing to work evenings and one weekend day.
• One year of professional Psychiatric Inpatient experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with issues related to homelessness
• Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries
• Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and service provision
• Working knowledge of Washington State Involuntary Treatment Act
• Good communication skills, teamwork, and attitude
• Multicultural awareness
• Ability to adapt, flexibility 

Other:

• Must have a valid Washington state driver’s license and reliable transportation with current insurance     
• Complete CPI Training Course within 90 days of hire.
