PCAs typically work with elderly, disabled, or chronically ill clients. Some of their responsibilities include:
Personal care: Helping clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and transferring
Housekeeping: Cleaning, laundry, washing dishes, and making beds
Meal preparation: Planning and preparing meals based on the client's diet
Scheduling: Helping clients organize their schedule and plan appointments
Medication: Ensuring clients take their medication on time and disposing of medication
Monitoring: Monitoring clients' health
Reporting: Reporting changes in a client's condition, behavior, or appearance to a supervisor
Companionship: Providing general companionship and advice
