Summary:
The Construction Management Intern will be engaged in a hands-on, diverse education in heavy highway construction. The term of engagement is approximately 10 – 12 weeks, expectedly during the height of the construction season (late May – early August). The business departments associated with the internship will be divided amongst the following areas: Engineering, Surveying, Contracts/Administration, and Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist Estimators with analysis of potential projects and the job bid process; participate in bid reviews.
· Attend pre-construction meetings and job walk-throughs.
· Gain familiarity with construction-related technology (HCSS, Primavera, AGTEK, etc.).
· Gain familiarity with GPS technology used in surveying and on machinery.
· Work with and learn from Survey Managers and Project Engineers.

The employee is occasionally required to reach, push and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
