Purpose:  The Assistant Logistics Account Manager is responsible for assisting the Logistics Account Manager with all aspects of day-to-day operations to ensure the customer’s needs are met effectively and efficiently.  This includes being in constant communication with the Logistics Account Manager, Customer Service Reps, and the customer to ensure the customer stays informed with critical information.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide quality customer service and be an effective liaison between the Account Management team and the Carrier Management team. 
  • This position requires taking calls, managing shipments, accepting tenders from applicable TMS, building tenders into our internal TMS, scheduling all pick-up and delivery appointments, and logging information accurately throughout the workday.
  • Work with other departments to ensure customer business needs are met timely and efficiently.
  • Work closely with your LAM to effectively manage pod members and communication lines between all shifts (i.e. shift scheduling and staffing).
  • Help LAM achieve maximum profitability levels for assigned accounts. 
  • Work closely with Carrier Management team to ensure that carriers hired comply with customer’s policies, procedures, and service requirements.
  • Hold Carrier Management team accountable on pricing based off market demands (Utilize various external pricing and reporting tools) 
  • Accurately record data into internal systems such as our TMS, Excel, and workflow checklists.
  • Act as the lead LAM for at least a cumulative 4 weeks out of the calendar year as needed for coverage during PTO.
  • Assist in maintaining customer relationships through high levels of customer satisfaction and communication.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred but not required
  • 1 year preferred of industry specific experience with knowledge in LTL freight, 3PL, shipping and supportive technologies (TMS, CMS, etc.)
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to provide oral and written correspondence, effectively present information, and respond to questions from customers, team members and managers
