Educational company that partners with private and public schools in the Boston area and brings affordable chess and logical math program to kids in the Boston area is looking for several After-School Program Teachers

Hours/Schedule: The program is held between the hours of 2:30-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, either every day or several days/week depending on the location; September 9th through the end of the calendar year with the possibility of extending through June '25

Job Type: Contract

Location Requirements: On-site, at these locations:
Exeter St/Boston, Boston/North End, Allston, Cambridge, Jamaica Plain, Brookline, Waban/Newton, Brighton

Rate: $30-$45/hour based on experience

Responsibilities:

• Teach kids the basic skills of chess and logical mathematics according to the curriculum developed by the client (training provided, no prior knowledge of chess or math required)
• Encourage students to explore various approaches to problem solving with emphasis on thinking outside the box and looking for non-standard, creative solutions.
• Grade students’ assessments (e.g., tests and quizzes) and track their academic progress.
• Manage students’ behavior, create a safe and respectful classroom environment, and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and school administration.
• Ability to manage a classroom of children 6 and older effectively 

Qualifications:  

• No prior knowledge of chess or mathematics is required, experience with a STEM type curriculum is preferred. 
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage a classroom within this age group and teach appropriate curriculum
• The candidate should be well-organized, committed, energetic, and punctual.
• Ability to travel to location(s) as listed above
