This is a Full-Time position; $50,000 per year; teaching small classes in IT and Tech (currently  Google IT Support, CompTIA A+, and Responsive Web Design) leading to students earning industry certifications and gaining placement into entry-level IT employment. 

Reports to:  Director, Educational Programs 

 

Job summary:   Requires a knowledgeable IT specialist or instructor capable of implementing and supplementing IT and Tech curriculum to facilitate high-quality learning experiences to adult learners (currently in Google IT Support, Certification, CompTIA A+ certification, and Responsive Web Design) leading to certificate achievement and entry-level employment in the IT field.

 

Minimum requirements 

  • CompTIA A+ Certified, or additional IT related certifications required.
  • Associates degree or equivalent in professional IT experience and certifications; Bachelor’s degree desired.
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in the IT field; instructional background preferred.
  • Skilled in Computer Hardware/PC Building; Hardware and Software Troubleshooting, Networking Knowledge; Linux desired. 
  • Prior experience in HTML and CSS preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff and program participants through verbal and written communications.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Current Illinois driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance.

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Using specified curriculum, apply educational techniques and philosophies to develop and execute first-in-class syllabi and lesson plans. 
  • Provide high quality, accessible, industry-informed instruction to students.     
  • Think pedagogically to break down technical concepts into digestible units and modules. 
  • In coordination with Director of Educational Programs and team, curate external materials and resources to supplement current IT and Web Development curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Educational Programs and team to craft learning outcomes and build a compelling learner experience.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation and continuous program improvement aimed at increasing students’ skills, credential achievement, and employability.
  • Participate in program planning, implementation, tracking and reporting outcomes.
  • Gain familiarity with the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program in order to provide technical assistance to students.
  • Earn certifications as needed to confirm instructional competency and reflect program strength. 
  • Prepare students to successfully take certification exams.
  • Additional related duties as assigned.
