About the Opportunity:
Chelsea Piers seeks to hire a Lead STEAM Teacher to join our STEAM department team. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of innovative education, impacting children’s lives by nurturing their natural curiosity and creativity. As a Chelsea Piers STEAM Teacher, you’ll be a part of a passionate team who is dedicated to making learning a fun and memorable experience. This role is perfect for those who are enthusiastic about education and eager to bring energy and inspiration to the classroom every day.  

The expected start date for is August 5 when you will go through onboarding and curriculum testing. Starting September 5, STEAM classes begin. You will work approximately 3 days a week (including one weekend day), 10-20 hours/week, with the possibility of increasing hours. 

As the Lead STEAM Teacher, you will be expected to:

  • Prepare and Familiarize: Read and understand lesson plans, ensuring you’re well-versed in our curriculum content and teaching style and strategies.
  • Child Safety: Assist with safely escorting children to and from various locations within Chelsea Piers. 
  • Engage and Teach: Lead fun, hands-on STEAM lessons that captivate and educate.
  • Clean and Organize: Handle post-lesson cleanup, sanitizing and organizing materials to maintain a tidy environment. 
  • Communication and Report with Parents: Communicate with families through parent meetings, parent notices, individual conferences (formal and informal), and through regularly scheduling parent/child programs.

About You:
You are a fun, outgoing and intelligent individual who loves working with children. You are ready and excited to play a crucial role in fostering a safe and engaging environment where kids can learn and grow through exciting STEAM activities. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience with elementary-age children.
  • Highly reliability with a positive attitude at all times and a keen interest in STEAM education
  • Excellent multitasking skills and ability to adapt.
  • Ability to work on weekend days. 
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit. 
  • Punctuality, responsibility, friendliness, creativity, a strong work ethic, and a great sense of humor.
