We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support pediatric healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the pediatric office.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Assist in patient examinations and procedures.
- Measure and record vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
- Administer vaccinations and medications as directed by the pediatrician.
- Collect lab specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Conduct basic diagnostic tests such as EKGs.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and wound care.
- Provide patient education on health, wellness, and preventive care.
- Support the pediatrician during patient visits, ensuring patient comfort.
Administrative Duties:
- Greet patients and families, ensuring a welcoming and friendly environment.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
- Update and maintain accurate patient records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries promptly and professionally.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients and their families.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other medical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with pediatric medical practices and advancements.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Prior experience in a pediatric or healthcare setting is a plus.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, with hours varying based on clinic needs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and assist patients as needed.
